This recipe just may be my new favorite, but whether or not you can call it truly vegetarian depends on your opinion of milk products. In my house we go out of our way to make sure all dairy products come from humanely kept animals but we do eat dairy. If you don't you can find substitutes on the web.
The recipe for the bread comes from This Gal Cooks, and its fantastic! (Here's the link)
I have a rule in my house, I don't want to spend a ton of money on non-essentials like alcohol so I refuse to buy more beer until I've finished off what I already have... Which means when I make a bad decision and end up with beer that I really don't like I end up trying to find a use for it that isn't drinking it. And hey, the husband loves beer bread, he just doesn't like beer (yeah hes a weirdo but hes my weirdo!) so I think this is going to be a staple in my house... At least until I run out of my current poor choice in alcohol.
We've already finished off about half of this bread before I had a chance to write this, but after several servings of it I started to look around the house for something to go with it. As good as it is, every good bread needs a good topper :) so when my sister's friend ask me to make some spinach artichoke dip for her graduation party the wheels started turning and this is the result!
I found the recipe for the spinach artichoke dip on Food.com (Here) and while they intend for it to be a dip it also works wonderfully as a spread!
Its a match made in heaven <3 and it isn't hard to make either!
